Had I the heavens' embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet,
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

Fog It Blog It, Terrifying Tingles In The Dead City!
Halloween Tales From Spooky London Highgate Cemetery.
Continuing
‘Shocktober’ we bring you one last story from bizarre spooky London. Heading
over to Highgate cemetery, the city of the dead takes up 20 acres of a North
London hillside. It was opened in 1839
and was so sought after that you were not anybody unless you were buried there,
not that you were anybody anymore if you needed a ‘hot plot’. The monuments to
the dead became ever more outlandish as people tried to outdo one another. Less
keeping up with the Jones, more keeping up with the creepy crypts. The dark
days of World War 11 saw the cemetery go into decline and by the 1960’s it was
dilapidated, the situation was quite ‘grave’. Rumours started that sinister
cults were holding strange ceremonies amongst the ruins. One man whose car had
broken down ran screaming down the street after spotting a pair of red eyes
watching him from behind the rusty gate. Another walking along the forbidding Swains’
Lane found himself knocked to the ground by some strange apparition that
appeared from the wall of the cemetery. The thing dissolved into nothing as
soon as a car appeared and the man ran away never to return. The hunt for an un
dead vampire soon ensued with spook hunters and media making nightly vigils. Of
corpse the pain in the neck was never found and the hunt was all in vein. Bells
could be heard ringing in the then disused, abandoned chapel. The cemetery has
now been restored but the haunting still continues to this very day. The ghost
of a grey haired lady who runs around the gravestones looking for her children
is frequently seen as is the strange spectre of a shrouded figure who gazes
wistfully into space as if yearning for something that is no longer there.
Maybe he was just waiting for the phantom bus?Enough to send you stark grave-ing mad!
