Slog It Blog It, Tina Turns Them Off!

Molly The Wally Does Karaoke!

Tina Turner Is A Hit With Airport Staff.

Staff at Staverton airport in Gloucester have discovered a unique way of keeping birds off the runway. In an effort to stop the birds nesting on the tarmac, staff have mounted a loudspeaker to the roof of a van. During quiet times at the airport, they drive ‘through steamy windows’ up and down and airport blaring Tina Turner songs as loud as they can. Less ‘lets stay together’ and more off you go ‘on silent wings'. Normally we use the speakers on the top of the vehicle we use to drive around the airport to play bird distress calls,' head of operations Darren Lewington told our reporters at Molly Media. 'But when our bird distress noises weren't working properly, they turned the tape player on, and that day it was Tina Turner who scared the birds away.' The biggest problem for the airport are crows and gulls, and staff have tried a variety of methods to keep them away. Sounds cruel but ‘what's love got to do with it’ as the birds pose a threat to aircraft. As well as playing music, they have even lit Roman Candles. We won’t recommend that approach as ‘we don’t need another hero’. Staff have also taken to the runway themselves, beating their chests and waving black bags. Well obviously in the end Tina Turner was ‘simply the best, better than all the rest’.

We would like to thank the wonderful Misaki for giving us this award. We are touched and will pop it on our awards page.

Molly I have a favor to ask? Misaki commented on my blog several weeks ago,
However when I go to her blog to comment it asked for my email....which in turn it does not recognize...so therefore I cannot comment. Others on wordpress have turned off the email requirement option. I don't have her email so would you please tell her I'm sorry I cannot comment for the above reason.

  31. In the parks here, they blast an annoying crow's caw and load beeping noises and sirens to keep the birds away. Only trouble is, it keeps the people away too.

  34. Great Tina Turner pic - how in heavens name did you manage that! I'm thoroughly impressed. Amazed that the sound scares the birds off but, whatever works, at least they're not getting killed by aircraft then.
