PD Peach gives a statement but the only problem is, PD Peach a dog!
We dedicate this post to our new officer in Blogville Officer Bites who can be found over Here!
Police dog handlers are all too aware of how crucial their four-legged colleagues are in the investigation of many crimes. However over in the West Midlands police could be in the doghouse after someone from the force filled out a witness statement on behalf of one of their police dogs named Peach. The statement was brief and to the point and said: ‘I chase him. I bite him. Bad man. He tasty. Good boy. Good boy Peach.’ It also came complete with a signature from Peach the Alsatian, a print of the paw and stated that the age of the witness was four and that his number was PD4341. When the Crown Prosecution Service demanded a witness statement from Peach, officers realised that it would be taking their canines’ skills a step too far. They wrote back explaining that PC Peach was in fact PD Peach, stressing that PD stood for police dog but to no avail. Eventually, the handler completed a form as if it had been written by the Alsatian signing it with a paw print. The Professional Standards Department have stated they are looking into this and early enquiries suggest it is a light-hearted exchange as a result of a misunderstanding around a police dog and a police officer. The CPS, however, failed to see the funny side and complained to the police that their mistake had been turned into a very public joke. Typical of the CPS being dogmatic about getting statements from literally anyone and everyone! I bet they are woofing woeful that everyone is laughing at them. Told you the law can be an ass! Does that mean CPS stands for Clown Prosecution Service?
And tomorrow it is Hooray for Mollywood!
