Flog It Blog It, It’s Tasty Tuesday Or Maybe Not!

Molly The Wally Does Japan!

Themed restaurants are nothing new but as always the land of the bizarre take the idea to a whole new level.

It all started with Alcatraz! The setting is a medical prison and the patrons are the patients. The waitresses are dressed like nurses and upon entry they handcuff you and lock you into your dining cell.

How about the vampire café with it’s colour red theme and full of candelabras, broken mirrors, skulls, and a large centre piece coffin?

For people who who think about breaking into a Catholic Church and drinking sacramental wine, there’s Christon Café.

Try some canabalistic shushi?  Of course the body is fake, and made entirely of edible foodables, but it is kind of creepy.

Let's go Ninja? The entrance leads to a maze of cave-like corridors where staff escort you through a labyrinth of trap doors and trick drawbridges before seating you at your private table. The meals are themed after ninjas and feudal age Japan.

Some girls never outgrow their princess fantasies, and if you live in Japan, you can luxuriate in all the princess regalia you can stomach at the Princess Heart restaurant.

If you are an Alice in Wonderland fan this one is for you. The restaurant includes playing card dining tables, giant teacup booths, a magic forest, and heart-shaped chandeliers.

The eatery is known as Biohazard Cafe and Grill and features Resident Evil-themed food, props, and an unlimited supply of dancing girls in very short shorts.

The appropriately named Robot Restaurant where you can have a drink, eat a bento box and watch robots stage an hour long mock fight to the latest Lady Gaga hit.

The first menu you’ll see at Calico Cat Café in Tokyo is the cat selection. The staff provide complimentary bags of dried cat food that can be used to attract your desired playmate while you sip your tea.

Please, please we so want a dog version! I'd work there 24/7!

Tuesday just got tastier thanks to Sugars' Tasty Tuesday Blog Hop Here !

  8. Lol... wow weird. Especially the cannibal thing... The only themed restaurants we have around here involve girls in skimpy clothes... Hooters, Twin Peaks (lumberjacks), Tilt a Kilt (scottish kilts)... I think I'm missing one.

  10. Can I invite you for a candle light dinner to the Alice-Pub? Maybe we will meet this white rabbit and can chase him for dessert? Have a tasty Tuesday :o)

  11. A dog version of the Calico Cat would have just one problem.....the floors would be slick from all the drool! Dogs aren't nearly as fussy as cats so as soon as you broke out the treats, the entire pack would swarm you table!

  12. People are weird. I will just take my kibble in my bowl in my plain old kitchen.

We've been watering the dog down the road. She's off the rope now. Waiting for her to come terrorize the cats.

  26. My cousin lives in Japan and is an English teacher there. My two aunts (his mom and his aunt) visited him in Japan last year. The first place he took them to was that first restaurant you put a picture of--the Alcatraz jail type place! My aunt said that they cut the lights off and people scream, then they have "mental patients" come bang on the bars of the jail and scream in your face! She said she was about to wet her pants she was so scared! Haha! :)

  28. Hehehe...humans are funny! Hm, not really sure about that whole cannibalism sushi place though, I think it would stop me from being hungry...ew! I've heard about the kitty cafe though, such a fun idea, especially since a lot of places there don't allow pets!! Thanks for all the fun "theme" restaurants Molly! :-D

  29. Those are some real interesting places. I do like the prison one.

  31. I looooove themed restaurants and the cat cafe is my favorite, naturally :) A couple of months ago, I went to take a few pictures in an empty theme restaurant. So creepy. Have a look at some of the pictures on my other blog: http://vanessa-morgan.blogspot.be/2012/10/abandoned-horror-themed-restaurant-t.html

  32. Hmm, I'm not sure about some of these places, but the Alice in Wonderland one looks neat. And I wish we had kitty cafes here in the states! I wonder if pups are allowed?

Have you seen those places that are made of ice? I think my mom's brother went to one in Asia somewhere...

  38. What will us humans come up with next? Eating out of a fake human seems kind of much to me, but what do I know? I'm not a restaurant aficionado; I just like to eat. Although, I'd be sold if a there was a dog cafe :)

  39. Those are all a little too weird for our taste...call us old fashioned but a bowl with some yummy food in it is good enough for us.
