Dog House Blog, Catapulted To Fame!

Molly The Wally On The Campaign Trail Again!

Tired of those political rats? Mexicans frustrated with corrupt politicians nominate a cat to run for city mayor and he is in the lead. The citizens in Xalapa, Mexico have a big decision to make on July 7th, when they cast their vote for mayor. One of their choices is a cat who vows to 'rid the city of rats.' Literally, but also in the sense of corrupt politicians. Two students in the eastern Mexican city have nominated a cat named Morris for mayor.  If elected, they say Morris will eat, sleep, yawn and continue other cat activities as usual, which is what makes him a good candidate. A lack of belief in local candidates has boosted Morris' approval ratings. His Facebook Page has more likes than three of the other four contenders for the spot. He also admits that he's likely to make a mess in office. But at least he'll cover it up rather than leaving it around for others to clean up. Morris hopes to make kitty litter out of the other candidates by election day. He has a weakness for quilts, sheets, pillows, couches, and clothing in general.  Surprisingly, this isn't the first time a cat has won a mayoral election. In 1997, Stubbs a part-Manx cat was elected mayor of Talkeetna, Alaska, as a write-in candidate. While Stubbs was not allowed to officially hold the position, he was given the title of honorary mayor. Stubbs continues to hold that position today.  El Candigato is fur real! Vote for Morris we say.

Of course Blogville was there first with our own cat Mayor, none other than Madi here!
Have a terrific Thursday everyone.

  1. Morris will no doubt do a far better job than most politicians. That is what we need in England - an honest cat, your days are numbered Boris, he he.

  23. That's pretty funny - but also so sad. I see the US is not the only country where we are sick of "politics as usual." At least we're not alone in that!

  26. We think there was a dog elected Mayor of a California town years ago. If Mexican politicians are like Australian....a cat would certainly be an improvement.

  27. Dude, have you seen anything about my kitty friend Hank?! This year he ran for a Senate seat in Virginia...he even managed to get tons of votes! Pretty impressive for a politically minded cat! We have a bumper sticker that reads: Hank for Senate, my cat is smarter than your politician! ;-)

  28. This is so weird lol... I don't understand how cats are allowed to be in the running for political offices? Lol... good luck to Morris - looks like he has great chances!

  29. Our Mama has been to Talkeetna many times and she says Stubbs is definitely the bestest mayor that town can have. And we all know that our own Mayor Madi rocks. We cats are starting slow but soon we will take over the world. Good luck Morris!

  30. Only thing is if he wins he won't get much work done as I think cats sleep about 18 hours a day? Can you imagine him in the house of lords after a long kip, waking up to wash his privates! playing with peoples shoe laces and chasing flies? he could liven the proceedings up I think.
