Flog It Blog It, Brad Is Causing A Stink!

Molly The Wally & Kennel nos 5.

Brad Pitt’s Chanel 5 Advert becomes an internet sensation for all the wrong reasons.

He may have been paid more than $7 million to do it but now Brad Pitt must regret taking part in what has been voted the worst advertising campaign of 2012. Just in time for Christmas the advert for Chanel Nos 5 has been voted the biggest stink of the year. Pitt is depicted as a beardy nerd in a shirt, mumbling ‘eau de dribble’, in the corner of a room. The room could be a room anywhere. Maybe in a prison or a padded room in a mental facility or a secure unit, or a toilet who knows but it is filmed in black and white so it is art. Nevermind, talking meaningless random rubbish will be taken as profound musings by fashionistas everywhere. This needless to say has unleashed a whole plethora of spoofs winging their way around the intertwat. The one that gets are vote is The Pet Collective website which has a Brad dog in a Brad shirt making a Brad ad for Kennel No 5.  A husky voice states, 'It's not a walk. Every walk ends but we go on. The stick flies and we chase after it. Whatever I fetch, there you are. My wag, my treat, my belly rub. Kennel No 5. Adorable!’  The satirical American show Saturday Night Live has Brad as Hammy the Talking Hamster with the slogan, ‘My wheel turns, and I turn in it! Mark Paton on the website The Daily Buzz, has a  wig wearing Brad portrayed as a know nothing dumb blond looking in the wrong direction.  'The camera is over here, Brad,' he  is told. 'Oh, right,' he says, and starts the script. 'Channel 5,' he says. 'It's actually Chanel, Brad,' he is told. 'Oh. German? Cool,' he replies. Oh Brad you made our day!

  11. I have to mute the TV whenever that commercial comes on. There is just something so grating about it that I really can't stand.

  13. MOL Molly Brad in a Chanel #5 promotion was quite puzzling to us too.
Mom said she didn't think a man advertising it was the brightest idea...especially one looking like he slept in his clothes.

  14. I guess we haven't been watching enough TV, Molly--somehow we managed to miss seeing this ad! Must look for it now... Sounds almost as ridiculous as the Victoria's Secret ads.

Have a great weekend. Send my regards to Pip!

  30. Our mama says the ad agency who came up with the idea for this commercial has probably already been fired. If not they should be. Poor Brad, definitely not his best work.

  33. Hi Molly,

I've seen the ad and Brad looks like an ad for the down and out, never mind wearing Kennel No 5,I think he should be advertising a bar of carbolic soap on a rope for Christmas, that'll have you running to your baskets.
