Molly The Wally Brings You Her Top Ten Vending Machines of Japan.
The Japanese are bonkers about vending machines. There are nearly 6 million in the country each vying to stand out. So as you’d expect from the land of the rising sun not only do they have some of the most innovative but also some of weirdest coin operated contraptions to grace this planet. Thus on our last day in Nippon land we take a look at ten of the best.
Ever strolled down the road and thought I think I’ll just
go and buy a car? Drats everything is shut. What do you do now? No problem you
can purchase a Smart Car from a vending machine. Just what every street corner
needs! You don’t believe me! Well check out the bottom right. See ‘sold out’
told you just what every street corner needs. Actually pushing the
button won’t exactly give you a car, but it does dispense pamphlets on the new
models, dealer information, and a sheet of Smart Car stickers.
Eggs from a vending machine we hear you ask? It
sounds like something that Wallace and
Grommit might come up with complete with fan belt, gears and half the
kitchen plus lots of broken eggs. So if you have a midnight craving for raw
eggs or just fancy taking some home, insert the coins and open the door and
retrieve your eggs. Of course there is a little man inside filling up the
next bowl of eggs. He is very small but he is there!
You are in a hurry and you suddenly realise you have
forgotten to buy a balloon. I mean there are days when you want eggs and there
are days when you just want a balloon. Fear Not! In Japan, they have got a
vending machine for those too! Buy and pop away to your hearts delight!
How about a crap crepe vending machine? Those
Frenchies get everywhere. Bad enough their fries rule the world leaving our
humble chip long forgotten but do they really have to take their crap
crepe all the way to the East too?
Fancy eating healthily? Fear not! You can purchase
healthy fresh lettuce from a vending machine. Yes grown in artificial light
there is none fresher than these. Just a must for all those bunnies out there!
Come to think of it, someone over here would find a way to put a bunny in
there.
One for Puddles now! Whisky and M&Ms’ anybody! Where did
this combination come from? More importantly you do not need ID or proof of age
so maybe it is targeted at the juvenile market? Nothing would surprise us!
Spilt your placenta jelly juice all over your tie while
eating your wasp biscuit? Fear not! You can now replace it with the tie vending
machine. Brilliant if you stayed out all night and wanted to hide the fact that
you are still wearing yesterdays’ clothes.
Sneaky sneaker vending
machine created by Japanese sports fashion brand that gets those must have
trainers to your feet in records time. Would be looted here on day one!
A bread vending
machine does not sound a bad idea but bread in a can in a vending machine? What
it tastes like we shudder to think? Don’t think a canned loaf would take off
over here, we have enough canned oafs as it is! Usually on a Saturday night!
Modelled after a claw machine like you find at the
funfair, for a mere 100 yen you can catch your very own fresh, live lobster.
Not sure how many goes you get though but if it is anything like the funfair
you will be there all day before you land a catch.
Thus we conclude
our week in Japan looking at the more bizarre things on offer from the land of
the rising sun. Yes the Japanese are not just kimonos, sushi and sake, that is for sure! Sayonara folks! Wonder in the future, what country we should visit next?
Japan is such an unusual place and so different from the US I have always wnated to visit. Thanks for the blog vacay of Japans odder side

Mowzers. Mommy drooled over the crepe machine - she thinks she could handle that one. But bread in a can's just WRONG.
