We are pleased to note that we cats and
dogs are not the only critters out there made to wear things we’d rather not.
Yes straight from the land of the rising sun we bring you ‘Rodent Couture’.
Tokyo-based designer, Maki Yamada, offers a selection of wacky clothes and
accessories for rodents ranging from $3.50 to $18.50. The creations include a
black-and-red ninja suit, a lace wedding dress with matching veil, and a straw
hat with clip-on human like hair extensions. While the premise of guinea pig
clothes may seem ridiculous to some, Yamada truly believes her project is for
the better good of guinea pigs worldwide. “A lot of people get bored with their
guinea pigs,” she reasoned. “They will take photos of them for the first week
and then get bored and don’t care about them. But if you put clothes on them
for a special occasion and post more pictures of them online, you are at least
giving the guinea pig more love and attention.”
Her next project will be
outfits for prairie dogs. What next may be a skunk? I’d like to see her try. We dedicate this post to Ann My Pawsitively Pets here for Nibblet.
And if you think those were bad.......kitties run and hide!
Have a happy Fursday everybody!
Well, maybe she has a point and people will care more for their pets if they wear clothes. Better guinea pigs than us. We don't like wearing clothes.

We have had guinea pigs before and they were fun, but we never dressed them up. Wonder if dogs think they taste like squirrel?
ReplyDeleteI think they are so cute!
ReplyDeleteLovies, Miss Mindy

ReplyDeleteAwww thanks for the dedication. Nibblet says no thanks - LOL! I'm not sure their reasoning for dressing the piggies up is all that accurate, but the piggies are pretty cute! Maybe you can dress Ratty Rat up. Not sure what to think about the cats video lol... strange...
ReplyDeleteWell, doggies get clothes, so why not? BOL! have a great weekend guys!

ReplyDeleteThose cats do NOT look happy :)
ReplyDeleteWe probably shouldn't say this as there is no way people should be dressing guinea pigs up in clothes but they do look adorable!
Dip Bridge and Elliot x
Why didn't I think of that? I could be a trillionaire!
ReplyDeleteWonder why peeps have this need to dress everything?
ReplyDeleteHey Molly!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's BOL funny! Love that little guy's santa hat. I guess, why not dress them up too. Hopefully they all get lots of treats for putting up with that. OMD that kitty sushi video is horrifying! Run, kitties is right! Run fast and far. Yuck, that's nasty. Better to chuckle at the piggies. BOL

ReplyDeleteHmmm now whee would not be seen dead in these, in fact whee are wondering how on earth they got them to wear them at all?!
ReplyDeleteMummy agrees with little hats and maybe a cloak but anything else and whee become pretty upset and throw ourselves around. Maybe this is ok for some animals but whee Hutch A Good Life piggies say a very loud "Hell No!". Whee are piggies not dollies.

OH yeah. I'm past my 40's and my mother still tries to dress me. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteBTW, my blogger reader list for some reason went haywire, again. Today I had 137 unread posts. Yesterday I had zero. This morning I had zero. Now I have 137. All unread by me and I had been wondering where everyone went. I'm glad to be able to see you again.
Those are some very cute little friends you've got there!
ReplyDeleteWe are pretty happy that we don't have to wear clothes very often, just for some silly photos, but we do think the guinea pig looks rather chic:)
ReplyDeleteWoos - Phantom, Thunder, Ciara, and Lightning
That is the best dressed rodent I've seen in years.
ReplyDeleteHugs madi your BFFF
Oh man, when I had my guinea pig, Dilbert, I REALLY wanted to dress him up like that. I think you take the cake for most dolled up animal of the bunch. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a clothy kind of girl, even when i go swimming i prefer skinny dipping.
ReplyDeleteSheba.
OMD, the blonde hair and hat is awesome, is that Marilyn?
ReplyDeleteThe Mad Scots
That reminds me of that old adage "Clothes maketh the pig".
ReplyDeleteYes, those are lovely. Much better than the clothes we have (and hate to wear)!
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
The pictures are kind of cute...
ReplyDeleteThe Sushi Cats is just WRONG! We can't believe those cats cooperated with the filming of that silly video. Of course if there is fish involved we would have eaten it before filming could begin.
ReplyDeleteWe are ROFL over the guinea pig with the hat and blonde wig. MOL!
Purrs,
Cindi Lou & The Kitty Krew
I don't know what to say abouts this....maybe this chick has WAY too much time on her hands. Just sayin....
ReplyDeleteKisses,

That is the most creative use of pet clothing I have seen
ReplyDeleteOh my word, mom is laughing so hard
ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
Aw, come on Ann...you have to get at least a tank top for Nibblets! That Cat video was something else???I'm still shaking my head :)
ReplyDeleteAwww... that Santa outfit is adorable!
ReplyDeleteMom said I look better without any human made clothes as they are too artificial for moi.
ReplyDelete~Eva
Holy CAT. We're sooo glad our mom doesn't indulge in that practice. (whewwwwww!)
ReplyDeleteWe saw a lot of dressed up animals at BlogPaws, mostly the dogs had shirts or tutus, but there were some with dresses. And the cats were dressed up too. I didn't see any dressed up Guinea Pigs or ferrets but that doesn't mean there weren't any.
