Bog Blog, Flushed With Success!

Molly The Wally Bog Blog!

A Cat owner has amazed animal experts by teaching his pet Salem to use a human toilet. Fed up with a smelly litter tray in his second floor flat, Luke trained nine month-old Salem to go to the toilet in his bathroom by offering treats as a reward. Salem can also shake paws and roll over and is currently being taught to fetch. However it is his human like toilet skills that have left experts baffled. Luke, who lives in Solihull, West Midlands, said: "A lot of the time we don't even realise that he's been to the loo. "Sometimes we hear him scratching at the seat but it's only when we step into the bathroom and see the evidence in the toilet that we know for sure. "He can't use the flush yet, he needs more training for that. Their local veterinary practice was so impressed with Salems' tricks that it crowned the marvellous moggy a cat in a million. "We've heard the phrase, 'You can't teach an old dog new tricks', but apparently you can teach a young cat anything as Salem has proved." Flushed with success we say.

  2. SHE travelled across the USA with a cat that used the loo. Shocked HER the first night in a motel when SHE heard someone in the bathroom! Very surprised to find the cat perched on the seat! No one ever trained the cat, it was just something it did.

  10. OMC pawsome! It's kind of cute how he's scratching the seat after he goes. I found a video on YouTube of a rat that knows how to go potty in the toilet. That was pretty cool!

  19. I've heard of this before. Start by finding a way to suspend the liter box in the toilet, then take the sand out, then remove it... I think

  26. We do wonder, though, what happens when Salem gets to be older and jumping up that high seems to be too much effort...? Oops!

  27. Howdy Molly, it's Penny here, Stella and Rory's kitty sister. Now that is just plain wrong. Going to the toilet in a toilet??? WTH is up with that. Every good cat knows toilets are for drinking from. MMmmmm yes. Fresh clean toilet water. It's the best. I do it all the time much to mum's dismay. See ya mate. No worries, and purrs, Penny

  28. We know cats can do that, but us dogs? We like to be out in nature to do our thing :)

  29. There a few things that keep me from getting a cat... the litter box is one of them. But if the cat could use the loo, that would be fabulous! Now just have to figure out what to do about my allergies. Oh, and the fact that Rita HATES cats....

  30. We drink out of that thing…we don't want to do our business in it. But concatulations to that kitty for learning this skill. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

  31. I don't thinks mom's cat is smart enough to use the toilet. She does like to shred the toilet paper while it's on the roll.

    Aroo to you,

  32. Mol, you aren't going to believe it butt that head shrinker mom and dad sent me (Sammy) too when the neighbours complained about my barking, well she teaches kitties to use the loo!! TRUE STORY!! They go and stay with her and she teaches them !!!

  35. I would be too scared to teach my cats how to poop in the potty. I'm afraid that they might fall in it, and splash the toilet water everywhere!! :)

  36. That is really something. (The video would not play for me. :( )

  37. Awesome! I had a cat that taught himself to use the toilet. It freaked me out one night when I heard someone in the bathroom going pee and I was the only person home! Despite thinking it was an intruder, I checked it out and was shocked to see my cat jumping down off the rim.

  38. Mom has known Meezers who use the toilet...and her cat before me, Popcorn, liked to use it as well...although he was OK peeing down the drain in the wet bar too...heh...heh

  39. When I was a kid we had a cat do that once. It surprised my dad who shouted and the cat never did it again. :-D
