Slog It Blog It, Nutty Tuesday!

Molly The Wally Goes Nuts!

Over to the Maldives today where police have detained a suspect for potentially tampering with the presidential election. Yes they have detained a young, husky and somewhat hairy suspect for potentially rigging the vote in a critical election. So far, a police interrogation has revealed only one thing, the suspect was saying nothing as he was hard nut to crack. That is because the perp was a coconut. Minivan News, a Maldives newspaper, reported a young coconut was taken into custody last Tuesday after police received reports that the suspicious fruit was loitering near the Guraidhoo Island School. The school was used as a polling station for the presidential election. Islanders feared the coconut may have been associated with black magic or been cast with a spell to influence the election. The four inch coconut had a 'Sura' (Quranic verse) written in Arabic and was lying on the ground near the school, a source with knowledge of the incident told Minivan News. Authorities brought in a "ruqyah," or benevolent magician, who determined the coconut was fake and therefore posed no threat. Black magic and sorcery are often accused of having undue influence on the island nation. Obviously life in the Maldives is not all that it is cracked up to be.

Have a cracking Tuesday all.

  14. You just gave us an idea! We're gonna give some of those coconuts to our squirrels here. Then they would run around and not be able to see where they are going and it would be easier to catch them.

  30. I just learned about Maldives the other day. After watching Disney's The Princess and the Frog with Lily, I was wondering where exactly the prince was from. Somehow I ended up with Maldives on Wikipedia. Have never heard of the place before.
