Flog It Blog It, Disastrous Design!

Walmart is offering a  $119 pair of slip-ons that look more like slip overs. These odd looking shoes have become a hit not with consumers but with reviewers.  All reviews of the shoes, which feature a very pronounced square toed shape, give them five stars but the comments themselves reveal a marked sense of fun and sarcasm. 'I've been wearing them around the house pretty much every day!' wrote one reviewer, adding the best part is, I can flip pancakes with them! The website's description of the footwear reads, 'Alluring square toe slip-on with charming detail and design. A must have for your dress collection this season.' However  their bizarre shape give them a clownish appearance. Calling them a 'time saver', one customer wrote that the multi-purpose shoes are very convenient on snowy, winter days. 'When I really don't want to go to work I quite often drag my feet on the way to the car,' he wrote. 'Thanks to these new super-shoes, I can shovel the pavement while I walk!' He then added that the pair are 'a must-have for anyone who hates the repetition of snow shovelling, or has Sideshow Bob feet.' Another commenter remarked on the shoes  said 'When I wore them out of the store you should have seen the looks I was getting,' he wrote. 'All the mamacitas were checking them out and saying they were looking good.' The reviewer pointed out that the shoes have one setback, however: 'You need to wear mudguards as on a rainy day or you will get your face splashed if you don't watch it,' he explained. Some of the customers note in their reviews that the shoes can be used for other purposes. 'I locked myself out of my apartment last Sunday,' wrote Civad from Rhode Island.  'Luckily, I was wearing my Zota G803-10's and was able to use them to wedge my door open! These shoes were more useful than a credit card.' Another said: 'The bindings are very comfortable, and there is plenty of storage space for keys and loose change.' A definite design failure we say. At last a formal shoe for the well dressed clown.

Would you wear them? Have a wonderful Wednesday.

  39. If you wanted to become a handyman or handywoman, just buy some pairs of these shoes and wear them. Some one says, "I need a screwdriver" you would just take a shoe off and demonstrate how you could remove screws with the pointy toe. Some one says " I need a hammer" and you can demonstrate how that clunky heel could hammer. I'm sure there are several more applications but I would have to see the shoe up close and in person to make that decision.

    Excellent shoe!

  41. Yikes, talk about ugly. But then after reading all the comments we see that these shoes would have many other uses besides making a fashion statement. We predict they will be all the rage at the Clown College graduation ceremony.
