Dog House Blog, Barking Up The Stage!

Lizzy The Corgi disses Dame Helen Mirren!

For many aspiring actors appearing in a west end show like ‘The Audience’ with Oscar winning Dame Helen Mirren would be the opportunity of a lifetime. However, one actress has been sacked from the production after refusing to work with our national treasure. Lizzy the corgi, was replaced by theatre bosses just days before opening night because she would not obey Dame Helens' command. She was expected to un-leash her thespian juices but instead decided to pick bones with the director. They got a bit hot under the collar as they could not cur-tail her diva hissy fits! Mirren portrays the Queen as she meets various prime ministers over her 61year reign. Unfortunately, Lizzy ignores her and only her canine co-star Rocky has finished the scene after 16 consecutive preview performances. Maybe she was feeling a bit ruff? Theatre bosses could take no more of her obstinacy and instead appointed Coco the understudy. The doggy diva and her dis-temper was eventually sent home with her tail between her legs. Now she's at home, a resting actress, resting by the fire no doubt. Do you have selective hearing and disobey commands?

  1. Selective hearing is something generally associated with my breed, but I see nothing wrong in that!

  2. What commands? We hear them as merely requests....which when treats are in evidence, we obey.

  4. Hi Molly,

On behalf of all us wonderful K9s a little word of advice, we do not obey commands, but merely indulge our owners in their winimiscal ways, so no treats no tricks!

  5. No need to read the post, you'll be laughing at the picture itself.

That's some interesting news about Helen Mirren. I love her as an actress and I am surprised Corgis are not a big fan of her. LOL.

  10. It's not selective by chance. I take some time to analyse and then decided. It is very calculated.

  12. My older dog has extremely selective hearing.
I worry, that if you get to close to a psychiatrist, he might call the guys in the white jackets and we might not hear from you for awhile.
    But don't stop.

  13. Maybe Lizzy the Corgi was channeling Greta Garbo. "I want to bark a alone."

  14. Oh, Molly! That photo! Wrigs sympathizes with Lizzy--he wouldn't listen to Dame Helen either, though he might have paid more attention to her in her role as DCI Tennison on Prime Suspect. Dogs have to weigh the pros and cons in these matters. Wrigs's first question is always "What's in it for me?"

  15. Wouldn't it be hard to send a corgi home with it's tail between it's legs - last time I checked the Welsh Corgi's don't have tails :) :) :)
