From rolling cheese to wife-carrying in Scandinavia, the world is full of quirky, colourful and downright bizarre events. They may not be to everyone's taste, but here are some of the best festivals you can find around the world this August.
 
International Regatta of Bathtubs 2013, Dinant Belgium – 5 August. 

Humungus Fungus Fest Crystal Falls, Michigan USA-  August 8-11

Chilli Eating Contest St Ann's Square, Manchester, England - August 10.

La Pourcailhade Festival of the Pig Old Market, Trie Sur Baise, France - August 11.

Kettlewell Scarecrow Festival, Kettlewell, North Yorkshire UK - 13-21 August.

Air Guitar World Championship 2013, Oula Finland – 21-24 August. 

Mobile Phone Throwing Championships 2013, Savonlinna Finland – 24 August. 

World Bog Snorkelling Championships Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales = 25 august.

La Tomatina 2013, Bunol Spain – 28 August.



International Sandsculpture Festival Søndervig, Midtjylland, Denmark - Until September.

    Yikes......the Fungus Festival is scary but the others are quite interesting - wish I could have traveled to them but Mom doesn't leave her credit card out and about so I can't buy plane tickets (or anything else fun.....or yummy).
