Dog House Blog, Sock It To Em!

Today is Lost Sock Memorial Day!

Nevermind the mysteries of The Bermuda Triangle, Area 51 or The Mary Celeste, in homage to lost socks everywhere, we take a moment to honor those fallen friends,

those lost in the Vortex of the Dryer Monster,

banished to under the bed exile along with the dust bunnies,

victims of pet kleptomania and hoarded secretly in bedding,

abandoned and left discarded in miscellaneous hotel rooms,

chewed, used and abused by four legged critters and callously dumped when no longer of use,

left stinking in long forgotten gym and kit bags,

and stolen by devious sock stealing family members and people with a sock fetish.

On this day, we shall wear our mismatched orphaned socks with pride. We will remember those that have gone before and have been led astray never to be seen again.

Oh missing socks you leave your partners lonely and bereft. Come home all is forgiven.

Do your socks mysteriously disappear never to be seen again? Have you solved the case of those elusive orphaned socks?

  5. Dear Molly,
I swear, I never touch the socks of my humans, but they keep disappearing all the time and only in rare cases we can find them again! (The most of them are victims of my teenager brother and sister, that never never never tidy up their rooms!

  10. thank goodness pets don't wear socks or there would be even more odd socks around! Socks decorate every room of this house, waiting to be reunited with their partners, we spend a small fortune on socks - there's nothing as nice as a drawer full of matching socks, all partnered up - it only happens at Christmas though when everyone gets them as gifts!

  23. I always blame it on the washer, sadly sometimes the evidence is visible in my recycled food. Have a fabulous sock-memorial friday, dear Molly!

  24. Dad's socks all look the same so we can't tell if any come up missing. If any of mom's are missing it is usually cause she missed the laundry basket and it is in some dark corner of the closet!

  30. Hi, Isn't it amazing that those socks go traveling and not tell us. Yesterday when we moved some bedding to the new house, I found a granddaughters lost sock from six months ago. Hopefully this house will not allow the socks to leave.
Have a great weekend and Happy Mother's Day!
