We Remember On Wordless Wednesday!

The Tower Of London has marked the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the First World War (this week) with a striking artwork of poppies. A ceramic poppy will be laid for every life lost from the UK and the Commonwealth. The sea of red grows with each passing day until all 888,246 lives are commemorated by November.

Monday night between the hours of 10-11pm London switched off it's lights and candles were lit on our porches and on our front door steps to remember.

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red is by Paul Cummins and features ceramic poppies pouring out of the tower flowing into the moat.

We too take a moment to remember all those who gave so much for us from every corner of the earth.

Have a wonderful Wednesday all and take a moment to remember.

The poppies will be for sale for various military charities and we are so going to try and buy one tomorrow. Purchases from international buyers are welcome.

  2. It is so sad - today because of media coverage people get all worked up over the loss of 10 soldiers and yet the numbers for the first and second world war number in the millions. Mom's Dad was in the WW2 and was British army and we always remember poppy day

  13. Mini Molly I will remember with you and Pip. It's a great idea and I will look if I can get a poppy too. I wish they would do the same here too, think there was a reason why all those men fought and sadly it seems that reason is forgotten here....

  33. Thank you, and your country, for remembering those who fought in the first world war like our great grandfather. Americans would be doing the same if so we weren't hiding under the bed in a locked room afraid of getting ebola.

  35. We think this is a beautiful way to commemorate this event. Both my great grandfather's fought with the British (as Canadian soldiers), so WWI has a special place in our heart.
