Bog Blog, Fabulous Foodables Friday!

Molly The Wally Has A Snack Attack!

What have whisky, tripe and Marmite got in common? They are all things Britons have tried once, did not like and have vowed never to try again. New research lists not only food and drink that left a bad taste in the mouth but bad experiences such as trying out a new activity or going to somewhere new such as roller-skating and Blackpool. Now Marmites’ famous slogan, ‘you either love it or hate it’ has the nation divided over its’ new advertising campaign. The spoof advert mimicking rescue operations for unwanted jars of the good stuff have left many angry whilst others think it is hilarious. Wonder what you think? Yep we know….‘you either love it or hate it’.

We received this award from the wonderful Lee & Phod over here. We say a big thank you to them and we will pop it on awards page with pride and we wish them Happy Thanksgiving over in Canada.

Have a fabulous foodable Friday all.

  1. I am proud to give a home to a marmite jar - I love it- have horrid memories of tripe though - as a child we had eaten it in leaner times and, to be honest, I would enjoy a tin of dog food more - so would you Mollie.

  8. teeeehheeeee...TRIPE? Oh dear, I have it coming at me from both sides of my heritage: MEXICAN and FRENCH (the later being an adopted heritage, but nonetheless, they eat it too!) NO, Miz Molly, I'm with ya on this...no whiskey, Marmite or TRIPE for me! Thank you dearest one for coming to visit. I have a SQUIRREL PICTURE FOR YOU...I'll send it real quick as I need to get to school...Anita

  13. that IS funny, but it does touch a few nerves, too. so many homeless people and animals that they're kinda using to poke fun at...

  14. Are Marmite and Vegemite the same thing? I ate the Vegemite and survived! I also love Limburger cheese and most other highly stinky cheeses. Its all relative.

  15. AH THE AGE OLD STATEMENT YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT APPLIES TO SEVERAL DELIGHTS WE EAT HERE IN THE SOUTH...GRITS AND COLLARD GREENS (NOT EATEN TOGETHER, mol).
GRITS ARE A HOT CEREAL MADE OF HOMINY, COLLARD GREENS ARE LARGE LEAFED GREENS. SOME SAY THEY SMELL WHEN COOKING BUT ALL WE SAY IS BOTH ARE DELISH BUT IF YOU AREN'T RAISED ON THEM THEY ARE AN ACQUIRED TASTE.

  17. I have never tried or even seen Marmite, but I think the ad is funny. I would NEVER eat tripe, even the bleached and cleaned stuff the humans eat, but my dogs think it's the best. They aren't sure whether to eat it or roll in it....maybe both!

  18. Well, I think I would have one of my sisters taste it dirst!

  19. If Marmite is like Vegemite... We are not too keen on it here on our hill.

  21. Kind of off topic, but kind of related--I remember trying Vegemite as a child, and I didn't like it at all. I know a lot of Aussies really like it though, so it may just be my taste buds or maybe it's one of those acquired tastes. There aren't many things I've vowed to never try again, I usually like to give something at least 2 or 3 tries before I decide I don't like it, but I'm not real eager to retry Vegemite, ha ha! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

P.S.--Thanks for making me feel better about leaving Riley at the kennel! :)

  34. Molly even though we are Australian ..not big fans of Vegemite...like Promite..love Marmite hahah we have only just now gotten a hold of some as the Marmite we get here is from NZ and when they had the devastating earthquake the factory got flattened...people went berserk and bought all the Marmite off the shelves..leaving nothing...so there's some trivia for you :) congrats on the pretty award Molly and have a great day hugs Fozziemum xx
