We dedicated this post to Mark over here who has his own issues with the Toilet paper. Remember when we popped over to Venezuela to see what was happening with
regards the desperate plight of the county running out of toilet roll here. Now thousands
of desperate Venezuelans have downloaded a smartphone app which helps them to
find the elusive TP. Loo roll has been in short supply in the South American
country in recent months, with economists blaming price controls imposed by the
government. The new programme, launched last week, uses crowdsourcing
technology based on Google Maps and geolocation to enable users to let each
other know which supermarkets still have stocks of the tissue. Called
Abasteceme - which translates as 'Supply Me' the free Android app has already
been downloaded more than 12,000 times. Creator Jose Augusto Montiel said most
downloads have been made by residents from the capital Caracas. The 21-year-old
chemical engineering student said: 'Lots of things are in short supply, but
what people are most worried about is finding toilet paper. Maybe he can create
an app for me to find squirrels or foodables. What app would you ask him to
create?
The Cat From Hell made us these great pix for our poll over on the right, just one click and vote....am I a devil or an angel or maybe a bit of both?
Have a fabulous Friday all.
Now ya talking, a Squirrel App :) Have a wonderful Furiday XX0XX

Mom says she could think of few things worse than running out of TP
ReplyDeleteteeeheeee...I CAST MY VOTE,but I'm not telling which way I voted; my mum told me to never discuss politics!
ReplyDeleteWhat is this world coming to when people can't find toilet paper?

A toilet roll app sounds like a great idea, but is it disposable? - can't make the convenient joke now! mol You look as though you could spare some, Molly !!!!
ReplyDeleteBTW I use either Reeder or Feeddler to read the blogs I follow, depending on which device I am using. I am sure some post updates get lost :(
Not sure how pleased I am having a toilet paper post dedicated to me, as you know, I am in hiding from Charmin assassins.
ReplyDeleteI do hope someone makes a squirrel finding app.
... and I thought TP rolls are for writing my wishlist to santa paws. I would load the squirrel app too. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteGolden Idea. We voted ... Happy Friday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
ReplyDeleteDo you think he could make a chipmunk finding app too. We don't have many squirrels in our neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteMillie & Walter
mark is just plain 'scary' with his solution. :)
ReplyDeleteLOL! The boys and I don't have a smart phone. We have to locate squirrels (and TP!) the old-fashioned way!
ReplyDeleteI think you may be in demand Molly, with all that tp around you! lol. (this post was picked up on my list ok).
ReplyDeleteMolly, what a great idea - I think it's an easy jump from TP to squirrels! You looks so lovey with that pretty cape and hair bows!

Clever solution to a dirty problem. One more reason for me to continue stockpiling TP!

Ooh ooh, I have one. This would be a big hit. How do I avoid the people with their heads up their a$$eS app. That is pure genius right there. ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! So they put price controls on TP? I remember the original post, but guess I forgot that part. Leave it to government. But the ingenuity of people can usually overcome.
ReplyDeleteHey Molly!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a cute pix of you all rolled up! Those poor peeps. I don't know why they don't just use leaves like the wildlife does. I'd definitely love a squirrel app! Now that would be a very smart phone. BOL
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, COP
TP FOR SURE BUT SHOULD THE SHORTAGE CONTINUE THEY MIGHT WANT TO START SAVING THE NEWSPAPER....
ReplyDeleteHUGS MADI YOUR BFFF
Maybe that would be a great way to make some extra monies!
ReplyDeletestella rose
If it continues then they need an app for finding leaves.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose
Hmmmm...seems like I know of someplace where I could make TONS of money by keeping them supplied with TP!!! I'll be right there!
ReplyDeleteWow - there's an app for everything. "Need to wipe? There's an app for that!"
ReplyDeleteOh dear.
Thanks again for the nice comment over on Pooch Smooches about the book. So glad you enjoyed it the whole way through! (It's rather worrisome when I hear from someone "oh, I just started your book and I'm really enjoying it." And then I never hear from them again... Not good for this fragile-writer's ego!) :)
Too bad their TP shortage is still taking place. At least now maybe they can find some TP better. Although, it is a little odd that there is not a shortage of smart phones?
ReplyDeleteImagine having to walk around screaming "Me encuentran un poco de papel higienico" (Find me some toilet paper)! BOL Those poor people.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend Molly.
