Dog House Blog, Truce You Got To Be Nuts!

Molly The Wally & Those Squirrels!

Today is squirrel appreciation day. Oh boy, do we appreciate it?

Ode to the squirrel!

I walked outside and what did I see
But a furry grey squirrel just starring at me
I moved a bit closer to see if he’d run
But he just sat still, oh boy this was fun

I crept a bit closer to see what he’d do
Then all of a sudden here came his whole crew
About ten squirrels came down from the trees
They all started snapping and bending their knees

Then one squirrel yelled Come on let’s attack!
I started to run but kept looking back
I thought to myself this must be a dream, squirrels
Can’t come up with this kind of scheme

I am the chaser they not supposed to chase me
Then into the house I went, to get free!
I was panting for I was out of breath
The squirrels they surprised me and scared me to death

The squirrels all stopped right outside my door
To look at them closer I sat on the floor.
For I knew I was safe behind the sturdy screen
Squirrels I told you, are always mean

Then one squirrel spoke up in a squeaky squirrel voice
We wanted to like you but you gave us no choice
Every day you come out here and chase us away,
When all were doing is trying to make are own way,

In the forest we go in search of some food
Then out you come running and ruin are mood
So please don t chase us, please leave us alone
Will gather are things then quickly scurry home

We wanted to scare you for you to feel our pain
Trust us were nice we have nothing to gain
I said I was sorry, no more squirrels would I chase
I’ll never forget the happy look on all the squirrels face

He said thank you, then the rest of them said it too
Then off they went all the whole crew.
But I was telling a fib that is for sure
Tomorrow I will just chase a little bit more.

Be afraid........be very afraid!

  6. This circus sounds interesting - will go and investigate. I love the squirrel poem - and the idea of the wind attack - excellent surprise tactic. Ambercat uses it when she doesn't want us to move her off the chair and it always makes us go away. Betty

  25. I showed Honey how you're supposed to use a frisbee but she didn't understand. I think she's a puppy pacifist. She only wants squirrels to be her friend.

Good thing Molly is on the job or the world would be overrun with the things.

  45. Oh Mollie! I am scared of squirrels. Can you believe that some people owned them as PETS? The people that owned them were even more crazy than the squirrels themselves. There were only three animals I wore leather gloves when handling and one of them was squirrels! They are insane! I used to get so nervous when "Bucky" came to the clinic for dental work...

  51. Molly,

You nearly had me fooled there buddy!! Can't believe you took them out with a fart, maybe I'll try that, though I hardly ever fart….

Your Squirrels look even scarier than mine, the ones here in California sit in my tree (yes I claimed it) and throw things at me - how rude!!

    Good luck,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

  52. We knew you wouldn't let them deter you Molly no matter how sad their story. Might want to watch out for the one in the flack jacket and the vampire.
